The Overall Goal of this project is:
- To capture as many Coatbridge Irish family descendants as possible, with a view to uncovering their county of origin approximate year of migration and any stories relating to that Irishness that may have passed through generations.
- Use the information as a tool for those researching their Coatbridge Irish ancestors.
- Paint a historical picture of how individual Irish families made their way to Coatbridge.
Once completed, this important information will hopefully be documented and made available, outlining the social significance of the Irish contribution to Coatbridge.
We now have almost 200 contributions, and are looking to extend the numbers.
If you have Irish ancestry, please feel free to contact us with your details, and add to the growing database, and for those researching their Irish ancestors, we'll only be too happy to provide you with information that may assist your search.
