Monklands Memories ran at www.monklands.co.uk from about 2000 until 2019, sharing the history, photographs and memories of Coatbridge, Airdrie and the surrounding towns and villages.
After the site went offline it was rebuilt in 2026 from copies kept by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, and then given this new layout so it is easier to read on today's computers, tablets and phones.
What has changed
The words and pictures are the originals. Only the layout has changed: old menus, adverts and visitor counters have been taken out, the text is larger, photographs are arranged in neat galleries, and there is now a search box covering every page.
Every page has a link at the bottom to see it as it originally looked.
What is missing
The Internet Archive did not save everything. Some pictures and pages were never kept, and forms, the guestbook and the forum's posting features needed the original server, so they no longer work. The forum messages that were saved can still be read.
